How Does Social Media Affect Police Brutality?

It is possible for a casual user of social media to become easily influenced by the opinions of others on social media. We already know that Facebook allows users to like comments on posts. Sure this is great to see which comments are the ones being most agreed with, but it serves another cause. It serves a cause to the casual reader’s mind. Let’s say a young man who has never even heard of police brutality decides to make a Facebook account. When he first logs in he has no friends so the only option is to look at what’s trending. As Facebook started to gain popularity, everyone wanted an account, including family. So now everyone has their close friends and family apart of their Facebook friends. When a close friend or family member posts something on social media it usually will retain more value to the user than just anyone else they happen to be friends with. One day I happened to see my childhood best friend sharing videos and his thoughts on police brutality. I immediately knew that other people would be just as intrigued as I was to see what the opinion of their best friend really was on such a hot topic. If seeing a post of police brutality doesn’t catch your eye enough, certainly seeing it coming from someone close definitely will. Social media allows you to really understand what the people close to you are thinking. They are not saying anything directly towards anyone in specific, which could cause what they would have to say to be biased. They are just speaking their mind as is.
