The Toledo-Lucas County Health department has two main departments, one is environmental health services and the other is health services. Those departments are further divided into subdivisions. The health services division keeps its focus on the 10 Essential Public Health Services when providing services to the public. The health services division serves the public through 4 subdivisions which provide a variety of programs, these subdivisions include clinical services, outreach services, maternal child health services, and WIC (Special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants and children).
A big organization such as the Toledo-Lucas County Health department usually has employees work within interdisciplinary teams to reach department’s goals and provide efficient services to the public. In some cases, health department teams need to expand and include individuals from agencies. Interdisciplinary teamwork can help decrease costs, improve communication, and reduce workload through sharing responsibilities. Communication is another important factor for successful goals and it may be improved through joint training and interdisciplinary collaboration.
