Personal Narrative: A Career As A Parole Officer

Throughout life I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be, an agent, a lawyer, or maybe even a veterinarian. My friends always told me being a lawyer was great because of the ability to snoop into everyone’s personal business and find justice for those who are innocent and those who aren’t. I didn’t have any particular person to defend and I didn’t know that I would use this short story in my decision to further my education. I’m growing out of my shell, now I’m beginning to hatch.
Transitionally, as hard as I could I closed my eyes and tried to imagine myself in the internship of a law office and it didn’t seem to compliment me well. With the sirens and the inability to have children, but still serving in law enforcement I realized that being a parole officer wouldn’t be bad after all. I was able to give support for further life events, protection from danger to and or from the offender, and appropriately suggest routines to prevent unpleasant behaviors or in other words rehabilitation. Workloads leads to job related stress that can be dangerous for personal health, supervisors, support staff and the family. The changes in a certain population demographics can affect the caseloads by reorganizing and signing repeated paperwork constantly without supervising each caseload properly. Together with, sentencing changes, parole changes, and offenders get older and suddenly require additional assisting. To emulate, a mix of surveillance and services can reduce fraudulent activities as well as lower the caseloads because surveillance is a deterrence so parole violations wouldn’t exist with high frequency. Stress can be rectified by managing caseloads and creating a stress reduction program for the officers to relieve their stress and save money as oppose to them taking long continuous
