1 Ten years ago if someone had told me that one day I would be interested in becoming a computer software engineer, I would have frowned and said “that’s stupid”. After reaching a higher level of maturity, although only slightly, the prospect of becoming a computer software engineer is much more appealing. Software engineers enjoy high salaries, generally consistent work schedules, and comfortable working environments. Jobs in software engineering can be found all over the country, and there are very high projected employment rates for the next ten years. Software engineering is also a very important job. There are a number of skills which must be learned and perfected before going into this career. 5 Some necessary skills, such as keyboarding, can be self-taught or learned through high school level courses such as Durant High School’s Fundamentals of Technology course. Other skills take years to learn and often require collegiate level courses. 5 In fact, most employers only hire applicants if they have a bachelor’s degree or higher (“Software”). There are a numerous acceptable degree fields for becoming a computer software engineer; however, most software engineers have their degrees in computer science or applied mathematics (“Computer”). 6 Technology schools (such as M.I.T.) specialize in these degree fields and sometimes offer specialized courses for certain careers (“Computer Science”). Luckily, software engineering does not require any graduate level studies, which keeps the price of college at a minimum and allows you to get a job as soon as you …show more content…

In my opinion, technology is the magic of the 21st century. The magicians of this century will be the ones that shape the future; so I initiated a computer science education project for kids. For two months, I traveled over 1000 kilometers to teach fun and creative things like building websites and creating videogames in different places in Turkey. This has led me to a great opportunity. In order to challenge myself and learn new and rare things, I have started to work at my dream company, Microsoft, as an intern. To maximize the experience, I have been trying to learn as much as possible, even teaching myself C# even on the subway. I enjoy the challenges and pleasure of learning new things and moving closer to yet another goal: To increase efficiency while purchasing ingredients and cooking, I have developed a mobile application named Culinars and entered the Microsoft`s project contest. Consequently, Culinars became the third favorite application of editors and entrepreneurs, and Microsoft hired me as a part time employee to affording me more experience to reach my goals.…

The CEO of Apple Computer and Pixar Animation Studios, Steve Jobs, delivered the Commencement address to the 2005 graduating class of Stanford on June 12, 2005. In his speech, he addressed life lessons he had learned that kept him going through hard times and inspired him to succeed. The purpose of his speech was to excite and inspire fresh college graduates about their world and futures. His first piece of advice is to trust in something in order to keep going. His second is that the only way to do great work is to love what you do, and to never settle. His third piece of advice is that because we are all human and our time is limited, we should always do the best that we can do and what makes us happy. We should not have to live anyone else’s lives. He convinces his audience, the students and parents at the ceremony, though his effective credibility and his manipulation of pathos.…

It was the year 1993( a time when Microsoft has grown into a major software corporation) when five computer programmers were making a big decision whether they should stay at Microsoft, where they're a fair amount for their “boring” job or leave and follow the path of their friend, Michael. Dan (or Daniel) begins his novel, narrating about how he and his group of friends – Karla, Susan, Todd, and Bug – currently work at Microsoft for ridiculously long hours, and that this is causing them to not have any “fun” or “adventurous” social life behind them. In addition, Daniel also claims that his father has recently lost his job with IBM and that this was also causing him more anxiety, by placing another obstacle in his life.…

I looked around me and questioned how these tangible things and even my life be governed by computer science. How can lines of code, zero’s and one’s, control technology? How does the code combine with the hardware? What more can technology and software engineering touch that will eventually affect us in our lives? Can coding be considered an official language? Even if coding can not be, I believe that it is the language of the now and the future. While being forced to choose a profession at 17 years old, computer science is the golden pathway. Technology is in every aspect of our lives, so I could go anywhere with it from creating mobile applications to helping build a NASA shuttle to working behind the scenes in movies, maybe even incorporating it with my own interests. I don’t know exactly where computer science will take me, but it will open doors and invite me to tomorrowland where coding governs…
