A Career In Pursuing A Nursing Career

My ultimate goal is to get my PhD in Nursing in order to broaden my horizon in research. I did not come to this conclusion immediately though. It was my sophomore year , I was taking Health Science and Mrs. Sutten assigned a project where we had to research a health career of our choice, preferably one would pursue. At the time I was dead set on becoming a pathologist but once I began to research I realized something was not adding up. You see I wanted interaction and excitement, something that would be meaningful to me. I knew I wanted to have a connection with all the people I would soon call my patient and essentially be there for them.Sadly, pathology was not going to offer me that while being in a lab performing autopsies all day. After learning pathology was not fit for me I looked into different careers and I eventually found nursing and I fell in love. The career was perfect. I would be the person to have the most interaction with the patients and the job would constantly have me on my feet. Knowing I wanted to go to nursing school I began to push myself academically to insure I would be able to attend a successful program in the near future. …show more content…
I applied to AHEC Health Career camp, a five day summer program partnered with ACC designed to aid applicants explore different careers in the medical field.
