Floyd sustained a torn shoulder injury in his left shoulder two weeks ago against in a home loss to the Chicago Bears. The injury occurred when he dove for a pass down the sidelines and landed awkwardly on the shoulder. The initial prognosis was that he might miss the remainder of the season. However, it doesn't appears Floyd is willing to go down so easily.
According to McCoy, "He's (Floyd) working extremely hard with James (head trainer James Collins), just like everybody else on the football team that's been dinged at some time or another this year. So we hope to get him back sooner instead later." One would suspect that the reason Floyd seems so intent on getting back into action before the end of the season might have to do with the fact he announced he would be retiring at the end of the 2015 season. However, he has been dependable and a great presence on the sidelines and in the locker room, which could explain why coaches and teammates alike are so anxious to see him get back on the field. Future Hall of Fame tight end Antonio Gates counts himself as one person who is hoping Floyd will return this year and/or reconsider
