In the United States, Life can open new doors leading to new experiences. I haven’t imagine that I would be pursuing a career in Ophthalmic Pathology, a career that I had not chosen before till I get accepted to many research positions. Having to move from Iraq, I was looking for an experience that would introduce me to the American Medical System and pave the way to a new career in the United States. I got accepted to a multi-dynamic research position in the Lerner center of Cleveland Clinic with many research projects, which involved numerous roles. I learned how to do tissue collection and slide preparation followed by various techniques including immunohistochemistry and immune-blotting. I have enjoyed learning meticulous molecular techniques including PCR / Western blots and ELISA. These research experiences have led me in the direction of ophthalmic Pathology which demonstrates numerous parallels with my research experiences.
