After serving my time in active duty, I was fortunate enough to have many opportunities to attend any college in the U.S by using my G.I. Bill. I had several options on what schools I wanted to attend when a friend recommended the University of Kansas. I then proceeded to do research on KU's nursing program and was impressed to see that it was rated as one of the top nursing schools in the country. KUMed itself is a highly respected school in the healthcare field with numerous distinctions of achievement and excellence. Once I saw the campus and spoke with an advisor, I decided that I would become a Jayhawk. The students and staff exuded a welcoming atmosphere throughout Lawrence campus.
