It has been a great ten years since I graduated from Temple. When I began getting my things together for this reunion I couldn’t help but look back on all that my engineering degree from Temple has allowed me to accomplish. Spending my first year of school at Virginia Tech taught me some tough lessons about work ethic and drive that I never picked up in high school. Transferring going into my sophomore year was one of the greatest decisions I could have made. Temple, being much closer to home as well as being my parents alma mater really made it feel like the right fit. All of my life I have enjoyed math and when it came time to go off to college I knew a career in engineering was what I wanted to have come graduation. This is no easy task

High school is something that all teens hate. Having to go through elementary, Middle school, and then another four years of high school, sucks. Some schools allow kids to graduate in three years. Is graduating school in three years instead of the regular four a good idea? Freshman year was an overwhelming for me, and I needed to instantly adapt to a new, challenging curriculum. It was a whole new environment because I just came out of a private Catholic middle school where I did not really have to think of deciding for myself, and into one of California's prestigious public schools. I felt unprepared, and everyone knew each other before entering high school. None of my friends bothered to apply to University High School, and I was a fish out of water. However, I knew that freshman year needed to become a time where I needed to change because high school was a time for a fresh start.…

Make Up Assignment Having lived in 4 continents and travelled to numerous others, I can safely say that from a very young age, I have spent a great deal of my life at the airport and on planes. I would always be thinking about how a plane at 3,500 feet of altitude with approximately an average weight of 877,000 lbs could manage to cruise with no worry. The curiosity was always present and just kept increasing. The four years I stayed in San Diego, CA my dad would religiously take me to the air shows there. Seeing all the different aircrafts would excite me as much as a child would if they were taken to Disneyland.…

One of my favorite memories of my undergrad research methods class was our Professor asking the class to come up with an experiment that a political scientists could conduct like a biology scientist. My suggestion was to put two politicians in a test tube and observe the reactions. Another student suggested taking 10 infants from their parents at birth, raising them in the same environment, then allowing 5 to go to college and 5 to only finish high school and see what who they vote for in an election. We all decided then to not let this classmate babysit any children. As crazy as his idea seemed, it was mostly correct.…

My most memorable experience is the day I was told I wouldn’t receive my diploma, as I reminisce over my past years in school, I tried to do the best I could in every subject, what I failed to do was to ask questions, engage myself with my counselors (advisers) and to do my research on the classes I needed to acquire my diploma. This was the first stepping stone to further my long term goals in my career path. When I realized my situation, I knew my move to Florida was a big mistake. I was attending a school in Massachusetts named Science and Technology; and I had already completed all my classes and the state mandated test there, which is called the MCAS before I relocated. When I moved to Haines City, Florida and transferred to Haines City High School the guidance counselors told me that the state of Florida would not accept my test scores from Massachusetts.…

My experiences in High School as a Student Representative, at community college furthering my education, and in the office of my local State Representative have all been integral in my decision to apply to Temple University. I have gained experience working in my school, community, and state. The skills I have obtained have shaped my life going forward in a positive and meaningful manner. The first experience that had a profound impact on my personal development was my position as Student Representative to the School Board during my senior year of high school.
