My career as an emergency room nurse has provided me with a multitude of meaningful health related experiences. Of those experiences, the ones that carry the most meaning to me are the moments where a patient’s life was truly saved. Whether it be the COPD patient that arrives in respiratory distress, the young adult that just overdosed, the trauma victim that was involved in an accident, or the patient having a heart attack; these patients would not have survived without the care of the team. These are the moments in my career that provide me with a sense of purpose, and I remember exactly why I chose to pursue a career in medicine.
