A Career As A Speech Language Pathologist

As we are growing up we tend to develop a life plan, in other words we set goals to reach at a certain age. In my case my life plan did not work as I imagined it, however, is never too late to redesigned and start again. I am 30 years old and just last semester decided to finish what I started 11 years ago. My original plan was to become a Pediatrician and establish a non-profit organization that provides Education and Medical Services to children in rural areas around the world. Now, my plan is to become a Speech Language Pathologist and be able to provide communication skills and tools for those that have speech and language impairments. At the present time I am working on my Associates in Arts with the goal of transferring to University of Houston to work on majoring in Communication and Language Disorders. …show more content…
I have been happily married for 8 years and I help to raise my 17th year old step-son. As a family we loved to eat, take road trips, host family gatherings at home, watch movies and tease each other. I am currently employed in a home health agency that provides in-home rehabilitation services for special needs children in Houston and surround areas. Not only do I enjoy working with children but I get a great satisfaction making a difference in their lives, even if it is backstage. My desire to become a Speech Language Pathologist came after working in the office for the past 5 years. Now I am hoping that in a few years I will be able to make a greater impact on them and their families. I am eager to learned more and be able to apply the skills learned in this course in my future
