Imagine you lost your job and home, and now you are homeless and living on the streets. Who do you turn to? Where do you go? How do you start over? Our society is full of people in this type of situation. How do these people find help? The person they can go see is a social worker. Social workers help a lot of people in different ways. They meet with children, families, and groups of people. They work with children for child protection. They can also work for private or nonprofit agencies, child care agencies, adoption agencies, and foster care agencies (Career Cruising). They help people recognize the problems in their life. Social workers are very important they help people in times of need.

Employment for child, family, and school social workers are expected to grow about 12% (Top 300 Careers, 217). To work as a social worker you need to be emotionally mature, objective, and sensitive to people and their different problems. They must be able to handle responsibility, work independently, and maintain good working relationships with clients and co-workers (A Career as a Social Worker, 217).Respecting people doesn't mean they completely trust you. Respect will get you much farther than control or telling them what to do. Alway suggest them different solutions, don't tell them to go here and do that. Every situation is unique, every family is unique. When you get a new client remember it is always a different situations. People need to know you care. Social workers work in many different places and in many different environments. They work with people who are having problems as big as abuse to as small as needing a job. They can help you adopt a kid or they can help you find a apartment. More than 600,000 people in the United States hold social work degrees. Did you know social working was created to ensure that immigrants and other people gained skills to escape economic and social problems (Occupational Outlook). Social workers have and will help people you know. Next time you are in a difficult situation think about going to see a social worker.
