As the school counselor, it would be necessary to support all students within the school. The counselor would first meet with the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) students in order understand their perspective and hardships that they face in the school community. I would continue to work with them in group sessions and individual sessions as needed to support an open dialogue and increase individual coping skills. In addition, I would support them by advocating for them and empowering them to support change within the school. Further, to work on making sure they do not continue to be oppressed or discriminated against within the school, the counselor would reach out to the principal and teachers to educate them about GLBT students
