A Career As A Physician Assistant (PA)

A strong desire to serve my country as a Physician Assistant (PA) is my motivation for applying for IPAP. Medicine is a lifelong passion of mine. Ever since I enlisted into the Army, all I want to be, is a Physician Assistant. From my two deployments to Afghanistan, I saw how PA’s are in the front line with the Soldiers. I envision myself as a PA and be with the Soldiers at the front line. I will help promote the Medical Service Corps by performing proudly the fundamental duties in saving lives and training Soldiers. I want to be a PA because it gives me the opportunity to train, mentor and influence Soldiers. My upbringing in Africa, and my time in the Army made me determined to become a PA. Upon my retirement from the Army, I intend to volunteer with non-profit organizations that provide free medical care around the world. …show more content…
I grew up during a tumultuous time in Sierra Leone due to a civil war. I speak English, French, Fulani and Krio. My language skills was useful to help U.S. Special Forces Soldiers and NATO Soldiers by interpreting for them. The war made me resilient and compassionate. It gave me a sense of duty to care for others. I remain driven and hardworking. My passion for medicine made me reclass from being a 92F (Fueler) to a 68V (Respiratory Therapy). I continue to seek challenges and work hard. I always aim to be the best father, a great husband and a role model to my children.
