Pediatricians are on high demand at the moment here in texas, but in order for you to get a job and patients you must love and be good at what you do. Going through medical school and being a Pediatrician just for the money isn't reason to be one. You have to have a connection to the children You don't want your child going to a doctor who is always stressed out about their job and not doing their very best in there job because they are stressed. Everything starts in highschool, you have to take your biology, calculus, chemistry and other classes. Not only take them but pass them all with no less then a B after you must get you undergraduates degree for 4 years. In order to get into medical school you must have some sort of a science degree. During your first two years of medical school you have study the basics of medical science. The last two years is when you get to do hands on learning and you will decide in what area you want to pursue your career in. After the 4 years of medical school you will have to do your 3-7 years of residency. This is where you show off all the skills you learned so you can get recognized by someone and be able to find a great job somewhere. During the process of your residency you will have your emotions all over the place, you will have to see children fighting to keep on living and fight illnesses but that's part of the job. Pediatricians have a very had job in not breaking down while you have to see children going through hard times. That’s why you go through so many years of college to prepare you for the difficult times that you will experience. You must stay professional at all times. You'll have will work up to 75 to 100+ hours during your residency a week and only get paid minimum wage. This will be physical and mental challenges you will have to face every day but it will prepare you for the real thing, it also will assure you that's the career you want.
