I want to be a pediatric oncology nurse. I woke in a children’s hospital now and the oncology floor is my favorite floor to be on. The turnaround rate for our children’s hospital is very quick, therefore you cannot form relationships with your patients. I think that I need that connection, because it is nice to know that you had something to do with the outcome of their battle. I know this career opportunity is going to have its challenges, but the rewards will be so much greater seeing those children get better, and go on and live their life. I have been really close with this little girl at my work, who I was there when she got admitted for her osteosarcoma. I have seen her at her worst, when the chemotherapy has brought her down to her lowest. I have also been there after her surgery for her hip replacement and femur replacement. Now she is in her last 2 weeks of chemotherapy and I could not be happier to see her move on from this minor bump of her journey, and see her start to live a normal life again. That to me is something you can think about when the times get rough seeing patients not doing as well. I love helping people, and knowing that I will get paid to do what I love makes me excited to start my journey as a
