I decided to go back to school to further my education so that I could obtain a degree that would help me to elevate in my career. I have seen people from my community use jail as a revolving door. As a young adult, I admired the teachers, police officers, principals, entrepreneurs and others in my neighborhood that tried to steer others in the right direction. I admired those relationships and have always wanted to become a parole officer. I have worked as a probation officer for adults for approximately 8.5 years and have steered many adults in the right direction. My ultimate goal is to work for probation and parole for the State of Tennessee. I feel I have a lot to offer to

It made me want to get up during the morning to go and experience what was happening inside Cameron County Jail. Each day people would come and go to court or would be brought to the booking process.…

I’ve seen too many friends fall into the wrong path and make some awful life changing decisions. Before the end of my high school career I had witnessed individuals from groups around me participate in gang shoot outs, fights, distribution and usage of drugs. As I’ve seen my peers commit crimes and were introduced into the criminal system, I thought to myself that the negative effects brought by my peers has taken a substantial impact on our community. I questioned, if their own teachers and friends won't bother to help then who will? Troubled youth need a role model who can be strong willed to help them make a better future for themselves, search for a purpose in life, and won't give up on them like everybody else did.…
