When I was younger, people always asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I used to say things like a doctor, a lawyer, mainly the “big time” jobs that I saw when I watched television, However, I have always been fascinated by the medical field and all of its entirety. There are many different people and paths that can be taken upon in the medical field. There are physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, and many more. The one thing that they all have in common is working to help others and that’s what really drew me to that field. I want to help others in any way possible , and their health is a big way that I can help. For that reason, I chose the Nursing field as my overall topic for my senior …show more content…
Whether the goal is to become a certified nursing assistant (CNA), licensed practical nurse (LPN), registered nurse (RN), or even a nurse practitioner (NP) there’s a process that must be pursued.(“100”) For me, I want to pursue the path of becoming a RN. I want to eventually gain my Master’s of Science in Nursing. However, it will take a lot for me to do this. First, I would have to attend an undergraduate nursing program to gain my BSN (Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing).(“Become”) Even with my BSN , I can’t just start practicing at a hospital. Assisting in childbirth can be challenging yet exciting. Nurse midwives provide education and extensive support to women as they go through the complete birthing process. Nurse midwife programs are designed to teach advanced skills for antepartum (before birth), intrapartum(during labor), and postpartum(after birth) care along with family planning and issues. (“Antepartum”, “Intrapartum”, “Postpartum”) Solid clinical training along with a profuse amount of hours of practical training with an established mentor in the field is mainly what nurse midwife hopefuls have to complete. It is necessary to have a graduate degree and pass the certification examination that is offered by the American Midwifery’s certification Board in order to become a licensed Nurse
