After watching the video posted along with our discussion, "Prepping for prison" (2013), I would have to admit that this is a career that I would like to get into. I like the variety of challenges and military training posed throughout the Correctional Officers Training Academy (COTA). I feel that the different strategies taught and implemented would be very helpful to retain and utilize in any inmate to staff communication in this field whether it be positive or negative. I believe my personality is stronger than some females I have encountered over the years and I feel I am able to assert myself more dominantly if ever needed in any given situation.…

During National Correctional Workers’ Week, the Bureau of Prisons pays tribute to our fallen Correctional Officers, who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Every day, we put the safety of the American people above our own, as we all walk through the doors, gates, grills and sally ports. We chose to jeopardize our lives and the lives of our families to complete the Bureau of Prisons mission, to protect society by confining offenders in the controlled environments of prisons and community-based facilities that are safe, humane, cost-efficient, and appropriately secure, and that provide work and other self-improvement opportunities to assist offenders in becoming law-abiding citizens. We knowingly put ourselves in harm’s way to protect and keep our communities more safe and secure.…

The issues that are involved in this case is that you have a female correctional officer that has been having a relationship with a 16 year old male. The relationship started though before the 16 year old male was incarcerated in the facility. Another issue to me that sticks out is that the 16 year old male is also under age, dating the officer. Another issue that arises is that the assistant detention officer knows about the relationship but he has been putting it off. The assistant detention officer is also taking this matter as a joke.…

This is something I desire in a career and feel that corrections as other professions in law enforcement demand high level of structure and expect nothing less. To attain this expectation requires individuals to be highly disciplined, so they are able to give 100 percent every moment they are not only on the clock, but when you’re on your own time as well.…

If I was forced to become a type of guard I would have chosen one that was on call all day.
