Animals are usually raised by their parents just like humans but that's only when they are born and raised in the wild, But when a animal is\endangered or found hurt they are captured to live in captivity such as zoos, aquariums,circuses and any other area that contain animals, and this is where animal care specialist come in at because they are the only ones qualified to care for the animals. I guess you could say they are like the foster parents to the animals brought in from the wild. Although most animals in captivity are brought from the wild this is not the case for all animals.
