Saturday mornings I’d eventually crawl out of bed and venture downstairs for some Honey Combs or Sugar Crisps. I’d walk into the kitchen as the chrome percolator burped out aromatic puffs of java while its bouquet wrestled with the pungent stench of vinegar (that I despised) which Dad drizzled into his poached egg pan. “Binds them together”, Dad would explain. He took all the doctor prescribed and recommended pills and supplements, past…

He has brown hair, brown eyes, and likes to think of himself as “right” because he’s “white.” an open white supremacist who covered the windows with “the south will rise” posters and confederate flags to hide the sun and showed me the barn where he made meth was the man I came to know in a span of 5 months, and was arguably the closest thing I ever had to a father figure. This known con man was my mom's current boyfriend, and after my grandmother had kicked my sister and I out during a drug induced rage my mom took us to live with her the boyfriend she had disappeared with months prior. A popular logical fallacy that companies use to sell their products is appeal to emotions. Thou Shall Not Commit Logical Fallacies defines appeal to emotions as the "manipulation of an emotional response in place of a valid or compelling argument". For example, Extra Gum released a two minute ad, Extra Gum: The Story of Sarah and Juan, last year in which the viewers followed the intimate love story of a couple. The ad was filmed in a way that emphasized the appearance of its product throughout major events of the couple's relationship.
