A Brief Summary On Child Observation

PER REPORTER: Shelly said she is concerned about her friend Robert due to the child disclosing to her that he lives in a shack with his father (Dale) and disabled brother (Dale Jr.). She said she was told the family went from living in a tent to a shack they built themselves, but she said the shack does not have a restroom or a place for them to shower. She said she is unsure if the family has running water in their house; however, she said they do have power in their shack. She also said the family uses the restroom in a bucket and she said she believes that Robert goes to a relative’s house to bathe. She mentioned that Robert has to sleep in the bed with his father and that they barely have food in their home for Robert to eat. She said to her understanding Dale does not work and the closes …show more content…
Shelly mentioned that Dale drinks and when he is under the influence he hits Robert with an opened hand leaving bruises on the child. She said Robert is afraid of his father and did not want her to make this report but she said things have gotten worse. She also said this situation has been going on since she met Robert which has been about a year now. She also mentioned that Dale mentally abuses the child by calling him useless and telling him he was not meant to be born. She said the last time Dale hit Robert was about two weeks ago but she said she is not sure what caused the abuse; however, she said Dales was under the influence when he hit the child. She also said Dales is on pain killers and she is not sure what kind they are or if they were prescribed to him by a doctor. She mentioned that Robert does not attend school but she said is unsure why. She also mentioned that Robert speaks to his mother sometimes but she said she does not live near
