Dana drifted off to sleep after coming home from Cameron's birthday party. Dana woke up in Hawaii! "Yes", “I’m in paradise" she thought, but then she had a sad realization. It was December 7, 1941, and she was on the USS Oakaholma when a huge explosion threw her off the ship. Dana, who was floating in the cool water, realized what was going on because of the book she read in history class. It was the attack on Pearl Harbor. Dana was so in shock that she could not swim to shore and saw everything, the ships getting destroyed, and the hundreds of people being killed by the fire. She saw the biggest boat the USS Arizona, get destroyed with one giant bomb, the ship then flipped and sank. She saw the Japanese flag on the side of the planes that were dropped the bomb. She knew what to do, Dana sprang into action and took two hurt men to shore. When she arrived to shore with the two men she got herself, and them to safety and waited for two hours until the Japanese war planes flew away.
