The interview I conducted was with a local eighty year-old female town resident of Pelion, South Carolina. The person lives alone, and upon being asked, stated that she does not utilize any community agencies as she feels she has no time, and has no interest in joining any agencies.
During her life review, the subject stated that she is a security guard for UPS, has been a widow for thirteen years, and has four children. She obtained her G.E.D. in 1973, and stated that she has no intention of retiring from her job in the near future. All four of her children live within an eight mile radius of Pelion.
When asked to discuss any support systems she may have, the subject explained that she supports herself financially, prays daily, and does housework to …show more content…
She visits the physician for a physical exam twice a year, with the most recent visit on April 22, 2015. The person takes Tramadol for knee pain, Prednisone for arthritis, and Triamterene for hypertension. She spends approximately 1.15 percent of her annual income on her medications. When asked about any dietary restrictions, the person stated that she tries to limit her sugar and sodium intake by rationing her food portions, and choosing fresh fruit and vegetables over fried or very salty foods. The person also drinks and average of two-thousand milliliters of water daily for fear of kidney stones.
When inquired about social interaction, the person explained that she prefers to keep to herself with the exception of family and close friends visiting. She does not participate in community service, clubs, or organizations. Her hobbies consist of watching television and reading. She is also a Baptist, but rarely attends church. Her physiological changes consist of the normal occurrences of graying of the hair, wrinkling of the skin, brittle teeth, some height reduction, menopause, and thicker mucus with a weaker
