Personal Narrative: My Day Of Independence

July 4, 2007 the day of independence ironically where my journey would begin. Glistening pillars of iron towering over the beacon of democracy and liberty. Beautiful beaches 4,000 miles apart, a playground for dreamers and innovators all across. This magnificent land being envied and respected simultaneously, the moving pinnacle of society. This land is where I was headed far from the upcoming yet comparatively shackled society rooted from the Amazon. A young, raw, and impressionable mind noting a move, but not realizing the change.
As a 5-year old you don’t see the underlying cracks, damages, and tolls that poverty has on a society. You’re born into this living by the rules and circumstances, this treacherous environment sets. Not being able to walk down your neighborhood and having family live in homes with no roofs was just an accepted fact of life. Through the lens of a 5-year-old, it’s all normal cause that’s all he’s known.
As an adult or for that matter any person conscious of their environment and its faults, none is ignored. The weight of having to raise children and having to lie to them saying “if you work hard you can do anything you want”. The reality becomes if you work hard and get

Somewhere where everyone succeeds, less poverty, and freedom for everyone. For my family it was where my aunt left for a better life. She went up north and experienced the stability the rest of the family never had. My uncle part of the bomb squad in the military was in Peru for the concerted effort by the U.S. to educate other allied militaries on bombs. He met my aunt in a restaurant while he was off to get lunch. Quickly they became infatuated with each other and my uncle convinced her to come to the states with him. This was the beginning of our family in the United States. They would later have a daughter and settle in a little town beside the city. The name of this little town was
