The mothers in the documentary had to go through the loss of their sons, while fighting for injustice in their community. The oppressive law makers, and police department had on individuals of different color or religion was terrible.The systemic oppression and discrimination impacted each case by dividing trust among the police, and who they are sworn to protect. There are reasons why this has happened, especially in this documentary. The criminal justice system has failed to put the officers responsible for killing the three men in jail. Law makers and other higher ups got involved to make sure the police got off.

Even so still maintaining a will to never give up. They chose to fight for injustice, and making sure their sons’ names are not forgotten. Being able to come together as mothers to raise awareness their sons died because of the police. Iris Baez still having faith there will be justice for her son. Kadiata Diallo staying in America, and not going back to her home country. Doris Busch having the courage to speak up for her son. In the past she was not outspoken, but wants to spread the word about her son. The strengths of the mothers help community advocacy by showing how they were affected by the oppression going by the cops. Losing their sons to not only the cops but the law maker the community votes in who turn a blind eye. Advocating for social justice as a community wanting the oppression to stop. The mother’s strengths leading the fight will help in the long run.
Social Advocacy Model The biggest community intervention utilized were The Social Advocacy Model. The mothers, and community want an institutional change. The mothers telling the community to stand up to the injustice thrown at them. Make the law makers responsible, and not vote them in. Have their voices heard, and end the oppression. Community Capacity Development Model can help them by building relationships with other people. Have people of power who agree with you advocate. Siding with any organization, or community who understand where you are coming from. Making your voices louder with the people you organize
