In the Novel Lenina is very well conditioned and from a way different society than John. In london there are no live births, no mother or fathers. Everyone looks the same except Bernard. For example , in the reservation people there gets old. Lenina and Bernard have never saw an old person before. “But it’s terrible” (111) In london people there do not get old or experience any types of changes. Another example is that there are live births unlike in london where there are not. “Remember that, in the reservation, children are born, yes, actually born, revolting as that may seem…” (102) So the people there have mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers. They don’t all look the same. I think of the reservation as our current society right now. They also believe in marriages and families. There are no conditioning there , so of course John would think about marriage and true love because that’s how he was brought up knowing. Lenina on the other hand was conditioned and does not know what love is or any type of family. “Marriage, if you know what that is, my dear young lady; families… no conditioning ….” (103) That’s all John wants is to be happy and love Lenina but she doesn’t know what love
