After a terrific 2015-2016 basketball season for the Heels, many are wondering if they can make it back to the Final Four in 2017. Despite losing two major contributors in Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson, Carolina returns three starters and an impressive bench. Joining the returning crew, freshmen Tony Bradley, Seventh Woods, and Brandon Robinson look to add depth to a lineup that is already superb. Entering this year’s season Carolina is one of the favorites to make it to Phoenix and they have a legitimate chance to win the title. As we approach the upcoming season, Joel Berry appears to be Carolina’s top return. Berry became an outstanding point guard by the end of last year, and has an ACC Tournament MVP award to prove it. Accompanying Berry are two other previous starters, Kennedy Meeks and Justin Jackson. While both were certainly key contributors on last year’s team that nearly won the University’s sixth title, each struggled with consistency. Now this year, it is even more important for them to play well each night, especially Meeks as Joel James and Brice Johnson are no longer there to assist him down low. Other key returns include: Nate Britt, Isaiah Hicks, Luke Maye, Theo Pinson, and Kenny Williams. From those five, Hicks is most likely to start, but one other needs to step up and command the fifth starting spot. If these five players can all find their niche on the team and succeed at their job, Carolina will have a real shot at making another deep run come March.…
