As I wrap up my junior year of high school, I look back and reflect. We accomplished much this year, which made this year busy. We completed independent essays, IXL objectives, read AR books, and more. All of these things are getting me one step closer to graduating!
Each quarter we were to complete our independent essays. Each essay had its own requirements and its own subject. Our first essay I wrote about Martin Luther King Jr. This was a paper I wrote about his life, and about the impact that he had on Civil Rights. The second quarter we completed a huge college and career portfolio. This was to narrow down our college and career options. This assignment was good for me because it made me go out in the world and explore a bit. I was able to realize that I do not believe nursing would be a job for me. I have now begun to look into different options so that I can find a career that best fits me. The third quarter I chose to write my independent essay over religion during the Civil War. This was a topic that

I will be honest I did not like IXL I thought it took much time out of my week, and it would frustrate me when I didn't do well on it. However, I did go up seven points on the English section of my ACT. I personally feel that IXL is helpful when I complete the objectives and I am then able to understand better. I feel that on top of IXL we should work on more grammar exercises. All the assignments that we complete from our literature book are helpful, but that is not the kind of things we are tests over on the ACT test. Mrs. Madorin every day had us work on ACT prep pages, and it was to get us looking at the types of questions we would be tested over on the ACT. I feel that part of my problem when I take the ACT is that I get there and then I'm not used to the type of questions and I psych myself out. I feel that the more IXL and grammar exercises that we work on, the better our ACT scores will

The Grade I Should Get in ESL 203 In ESL 203 I should get a grade A, which is the highest grade of the course. Wilmington University offers the course “English as a Second Language: Advanced Grammar and Writing” (ESL 203), which is designed for international students to “learn about the writing process, features of specific essay types, developing content, and expressing themselves in comprehensible and grammatical language” (Wilmington University, 2016a). Even though I still make mistakes, but I can do the self-check to correct common grammatical errors and successfully completed all the course requirements. The first reason to get the highest grade is that I can review the first draft my own and prepare a better version by minimizing the…

Accelerated English 4 has been a class that has been one of my best English classes. The class taught me many new techniques along with improving my skills that I already knew, though not all were improved. My strength in vocabulary was still as high as it was while my ability to transition had improved quite well, though my ability to create a well styled paper was still suffering. When Accelerated English 4 started there was no excitement about the papers I would have to write.…

Reflecting on the past long, but yet short four years of high school, I cannot help but be exhilarated for the next four to come. I can remember the first day that I walked into the JROTC room like it was just yesterday, butterflies floating in my stomach, my nerves everywhere with a smile on my face because I knew that is where I belong. As time went I took advantage of the program by joining the Armed Drill team as another cadet. Within one year of hard work and innumerable amount of practice I became a squad leader following up to be the first female commander of the Armed Drill team that Sam Houston High has seen. With the proficiency that JROTC has taught me, I decided that it was time to seek out my dream by talking to a recruiter.…

I have chosen to focus on 5.3A because this is an indicator that I plan to focus on next year. This year, I would rate myself a 2.5 out of 4 on this indicator because I feel there is significant room to improve on these practices. Although I have helped student use various resources to create goals for the future, I have not focused on helping them self advocate for the attainment of such nor follow through on these goals throughout the entire year. Many of my students create goals and never make a plan for how they will realistically obtain them. In the future, I hope to encourage students to monitor their goals more closely and help them follow through on said goals throughout the entire year.…

Since the first day, time has been flying really fast. Starting a fresh new day, meeting the same teachers and same old friends, I still cannot imagine that I am now a senior! In my senior year, there will definitely be a lot of challenges and obstacles for me to conquer, but I believe that as long as I do everything step by step, I can beat down the difficulties in this senior year. When I was in junior year, I often heard last year’s seniors told me how hard is it to come up with a senior project topic, and they kept on reminding me to start thinking of my topic and finding my mentors. Luckily, I had research method class last year, so I knew how to do my APA style references and I had many presentations experiences last year.…
