9 Semester Analysis

Improved Essays
The first semester was full of trials that could have been prevented. Personally the first 9 weeks was easier than the second 9 weeks. I wasn’t so pleased with my last report card because I settled for average. During the first semester I forgot to turn some important, grade affecting, assignments in and sometimes I would forget to study for upcoming tests. Every now and then I would lack the motivation to even look at my school binder, but this new semester is a fresh start, and I plan on not settling for anything less than exceptional.

My first solution to the past semester's problems is to keep a planner and update it every single day. It is very easy to forget things when you don’t write assignments down in an orderly fashion. I have homework day-to-day so if I make it a habit to improve my planner quotidian then it should be effortless. Losing my planner and not carrying it around with me can lead to dysfunction and to making the same mistakes as I did the last 9 weeks. It is very important for it to be brought to school everyday and I must study it daily.

Dear Carolyn Boles Scholarship Committee, I have had a great first semester in college full of learning and meeting new people. I studied extremely hard the entire semester and was determined to get the best grades possible. My favorite class was psychology and I received a very good grade in the class, so I was asked to become a mentor for the class next school year. I also decided to work toward receiving a minor in health psychology because I loved the class so much. In another one of my classes, we learned about different health field careers in order to decide if nursing was right for us since it is such a competitive major at IUPUI.…

For the past year, I could only provide an indefinite answer to a frequently asked question, How was your freshman year? In fact, those of us who experienced our freshman year could be addressed as “college veterans” will never initiate a conversation with regard to the past year. Perhaps they consider that the freshman year was not as consummate as they initially planned. I cannot judge my first year in college was successful or frustrating, but I feel I benefited from the meritorious experiences and practical knowledge gained from my college life. In my opinion, no matter what goals one wishes to achieve in college, whether its grade, love, health, or sense of accomplishment, one has to be prepared for both failures and…

In the Spring of last year, it was my Junior year, one of the most critical years in high school. It’s the year that colleges look at the most, also it was the year that I was in some of the most challenging classes. Mostly honors, a lot of homework, and tests to go along with it. Studying would take me until late at night, and even on weekends, all day long. When it’s the end of the term everyone checks their grades for their report cards, and progress reports.…

“What if the teacher doesn’t like me, what if I say something wrong and he thinks I’m stupid, what if…”, I often asked myself these questions coming into 8th grade honors English which had simply struck me in the eye with a compulsion of fear. I often thought that this year would be like all years of English in my life; I struggle to find the motivation I need to write and sustain my grades, which ranged most commonly through a B+ to an A-, but this year/quarter is like no other, it’s my year to uplift my sensation of wanting to express myself through hundreds and thousands of words that pop up in my fundamental and innovative state of mind. My drastic change in perspective of the English subject had simply started with my emotional revolution, whether this year would be different or if it would be like any other English year, but everything was different this year, it was the grand opening of Mr. Royal’s comforting and soothing words of wanting us to improve to the multi-media we have drawn a bridge of connections to, for example, Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes to even the stories we have read that are in the horror genre which I simply thought were impossible to find a fundamental statement from.…

In high school the words time management are repeated but never really explains. I grew up hating the simple idea of time management, but I have since learned that is means balance. It is easy to think of staying in and doing nothing but studies, but true time management is the balancing the responsibilities you must complete and the things you want to do. This realization has taught me that I can have a “fun” college experience without forgetting the reason I am at a university.…
