9 Dot Puzzle-Personal Narrative Analysis

Improved Essays
Well, approximately five minutes before it was our turn to facilitate our exercise, feeling a little anxious about how it was going to go, Caleb decided to switch it up at the last moment to a puzzle game named “9 Dot Puzzle.” Since he has completed the exercise before, he felt that it would provide more of a conflict resolution style outcome unlike our first activity. Emily and I did not mind that he wanted to change it, then again on such short notice we decided to let him take the lead when it came to facilitating because we didn’t have too much time to go over it before it was our turn. I personally believe if Spencer was there we would have done the first activity because the original plan was his in the first place and he would have been …show more content…
If you emailed us right now saying that we were going to be doing this again tomorrow, I’d be certain that we would for the most part have the whole facilitation planned out and ready to go. Which we did for our first idea, however we just thought it would’ve been too easy and wouldn’t have been a great example for conflict resolution. Additionally if we were to do this again tomorrow I’d hope Spencer would be there. Resembling to what I expressed earlier in the response, Spencer would’ve made sure we didn’t end up making a fool of ourselves, he would’ve made sure we all knew what our specific roles were and made sure everything made sense. That’s just his personality. Not meaning to throw him under the bus, I believe our performance suffered mightily without …show more content…
Which I thought was a great idea for the reason that once you got mad for having to restart, you’d have to communicate even more thoroughly with your team. Likewise with group two’s activity. We had certain rules and regulations to follow and if we did not follow those exact rules we had to start over. Team 2 could’ve made the exercise a little more difficult the second time around in my point of view, anyways no big deal they still did a great job. I’m especially curious to what other groups had to say about our activity. Maybe everyone liked it and I’m just being a Debbie Downer. Who knows, I tend to criticize myself harder for some reason. I thought the conflict resolution activities were awfully amusing and enjoyable for the whole

The groups were decided at random, and I was placed luckily with two very close friends, Josefeth and Reyna, and Kevin, a student who did not have the best reputation for completing his assignments. I felt from the beginning that I might end up doing more work than Kevin, but I decided to trust that he would not let the group down when so many points were at stake. We began delegating responsibilities amongst ourselves and made progress as they days went by. Nearing the deadline, we checked on each others progress a few days prior to the due date. Reyna, Josefeth, and I had each completed our segments of the assignment, and Kevin had assured us that he, too, had completed his portion.…

I would be more proactive and initiate communication amongst the team. I both post in the discussion board and then email every member with my contact information along with a Google Doc of the assignment. To minimize the challenges of scheduling meetings, I would also tell everyone the times I am available to meet during the initial contact and ask everyone to do the same. This way we can decide early on what our schedule as a team is and plan our meetings accordingly. Though this assignment was not without its challenges, it was a valuable learning experience that I would look forward to doing again in the…

I apologize for the delay since my last (first) post. Like I mentioned earlier publishing my own work has always been difficult for me. Heck, I still send my essays to my mom to be edited! Anyways for the past three months, I have attempted to push myself to continue with the whole "blog thing", but nothing has made it past the drafting stage. So why is this time different?…

Later that day we find out who our advisor is (Coach Book). When Ms. Turner told me Coach Book was our adviser I was bittersweet because he is a P.E. teacher, but he has a degree which requires writing. Another reason why I felt this way is because this was his first time ever being an advisor, which means we are his test subject. Our first meeting was very productive because we made a topic for our project to be centered around(water) and began thinking about some ideas for planning. Our second meeting blew the first meeting out the water because Nathan wrote a proposal, Nicholas began to think about board temples, and I did all of the planning and approved by an advisor and group members.…

It was the summer I decided to be better. I had done gymnastics for years, but this year I wanted to be a level six. At the time, I was a level four and to skip levels was not only difficult, but rare. “I can if I work hard enough,” I told myself, and I did.…

The next day we got the team sheet and I made team A. I still kept somehow showing up last for practice, and I still never argued, except say thank you every time to my tutor for driving me everywhere, since my parents were always busy. I kept doing my best, and that got me on the starting team every time. I might have gotten a few B’s here and there, but I didn’t feel as if it affected me. OH, but…

As a military child, I left the United States with my family at the age of five and spent eight years living overseas at duty stations in Japan, Germany, and Italy. We traveled extensively during vacations to over 20 different countries. As a result, I claim proficiency in ordering french fries and apple juice in several different languages. Although moving has brought me some misfortune, and many people would say that living overseas qualifies as adversity, I never felt it was such.…

I used to love writing when I was young; however, I fell out of love very quickly. In middle school, I was an avid reader and enjoyed writing but my eighth grade teacher changed this habit completely. The teacher assigned so many essays that at some point I started to see writing as a chore. This outlook on writing continued throughout ninth and tenth grade because of all the work the teachers assigned. I stopped writing and reading for fun, I only wrote and read for school.…

No one is perfect, we all have our outstanding features and our downfalls. Some of us are academically blessed while others find academics to be their worst nightmare. In my case, I have never struggled with any of my classes, but I noticed a few of my peers did. So, in an effort to distribute some of my knowledge and study habits I decided to become president of Peer Study Hall and redefine the system and framework of the club so that fellow students are tutored in an effective and thought provoking manner. Immediately after my first day as a tutor during my sophomore year, I knew something had to be done about the way fellow students were being tutored.…

I grew up quickly last year and realized that I don't get to control the consequences of my actions. One of the other big things I learned as well is that I don't get to choose the consequences of other people's actions either. I learned things about myself that I'm glad I know but it was difficult for me to come to terms with until I had n choice but to face the deepest and darkest fears in my life. I Learned what it meant to be a grown up…

This fieldwork was well implemented and very effective in providing knowledge outside the classroom. The schedule worked well with my in-class schedule, which helped me manage my time efficiently. Furthermore, collaborating with other students in running the group allowed me to further enhance my effective communication skills, which I believe is vital in my professional growth, as I will often work in conjunction with other professionals in the future. The instructor provided us critical and timely feedback, which allowed us to improve our performance by reinforcing what we did right and further identified what needs to be done in the future. First time running the group was a little challenging.…

I have had difficulty in all subjects at one point in time, especially language and communication. I believe all these difficulties arose from my family's Hispanic roots. My parents had never gone to school and they only knew how to speak Spanish so when they arrived in the United States 20 years ago, it was both a dream come true and at one point in time a nightmare. Too many not understanding the language of the land you live in is like losing your voice and becoming invisible.…

As I watched my video I thought I did an excellent job with the overall speech on the different parts of the guitar. My rate was just right, I had vocal variety in all the right places to emphasize on certain aspects, and used my guitar as a visual aid effectively. I also improved my page turning and smiling which I lacked on in my first speech. However, not everything was perfect. I had two grammatical errors towards the end of my speech and possibly some bias.…

Resisting and minimizing old age impositions As the analysis unfolds, I noticed a deeper tension in age construction. Older workers demonstrate a disparity between how they perceived age and how others do. They hold non-conventional beliefs about age as the embrace an ageless identity, but at times, others label them old following traditional old age scripts in interaction. However, as workers face this struggle they aim to control and minimize age meanings that contradict with their perception of age.…
