9/11 The Big Lie Analysis

September 11th, 2001. Most Americans are conscious of this date and the devastating story behind it. Directly after the attacks, the blame was put on Al Qaeda, an Islamic terrorist group. However, some do not agree with this conclusion, as, after years after the attack, there is evidence that the attack could have been fabricated. Shortly after the commotion died down, French journalist, Thierry Meyssan, in his controversial book, "9/11: The Big Lie", argues how the United States deceived almost everyone. His theory was one of countless theories that made their way into the picture, claiming that the United States played a role in the attack of the Twin Towers, for it’s [the United States’] political and economic advantage. From interviews with pilots and engineers to analyzing the attack on the Twin Towers, Meyssan argues that the 9 /11 attacks were organized by the United States.

Accordingly, there are a few assertions found in the book that solidify Meyssan’s argument. First, Meyssan brings up the question that has been hidden: Why did George Bush and bin Laden invest in the Carlyle group? Though it may seem as a coincidence, the Carlyle Group even invited “bin Laden's family as an honorary guest...before the attacks” (Meyssan 114). Furthermore, another solid piece in Meyssan’s argument is how he questioned and criticized the FBI, as they failed to do their job of tracking Flight 777 when communication had been cut off, ignoring what actually happened at the Pentagon, and how the source of the message sent to two Odigo employees, warning them of the attacks, was never discovered, let alone investigated till quite some time
