9/11 Terrorism Research Paper

Terrorism is an illegal use of violence against individuals to pressure government or citizens, often to achieve political, religious or civil objectives. The United States of America has been struggling with terrorism for years. However, it has been more widespread since the 1990’s. Moreover, on September 11, 2001, the world changed forever by the attacks on the world trade center, pentagon and the four hijacked planes. Horrific memories of seeing Americans jump out of windows, planes crashing into buildings still haunts the people of America. This terrorist attack transformed the lives of numerous, individuals, organizations, countries and the economy. Following these attacks, President Bush declared a War on Terror. Terrorism continues to be an on-going concern, especially in the United States where it has triggered initiatives to battle terrorism. Citizens continue to live in an environment of suspicion, fear and panic since random attacks are still a worldwide occurrence. In the 1990’s there were isolated attacks that shook America and changed the lives of many. There was a group of Jihadist terrorists who attacked the World Trade Center on February 26, 1993. Their intent was to bring down the twin towers, however, they were unsuccessful. Nonetheless an explosion did kill six people. Although ineffective in their mission Bin Laden was behind this vicious attack and a few years later declared war on America.
