Iran has been using its wealth to support terroristic organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas. According to Matthew Levitt, Hezbollah receives 100 million dollars each year from Iran. However, western diplomats and analysts in Lebanon believe the percentage to be much higher than that, even double! That is 200 million dollars going into the hands of radical terrorists who are most notably known for their savage attacks against innocent people. These are the people placing bombs in market places, gunning down women and children, and the same people who helped plan the 9/11 terror attacks. Iran is providing the capabilities, and the means for terroristic organizations to kill innocent men, women and children across the world, and Americans are no exception to that threat. The United States government even recognizes this and put Iran on a list, along with Sudan and Syria, as State Sponsors of Terrorism. If we know that they are funding these organizations then why would we allow their economy to grow, and get more money that can be used to fund terrorism? For decades, America’s slogan was “We do not negotiate with terrorists.” This means that our country ensures the safety of the majority of the people and will not risk their lives over anything else. I run it through my head constantly while thinking about this deal. I am so fortunate that I live in such an incredible country that I am allowed to freely express my thoughts. A deal with the greatest intentions can still fail. We have to look deeply at whom this deal would really be helping and the moral code in which they believe in. Undoubtedly, with Iran as a State Sponsor of terrorism, the money they receive will fall into the hands of terrorists, who ambush innocents, American soldiers and could very well be planning another attack like 9/11. This deal does nothing to help secure our freedom, so why do we keep pushing for it? The men who are negotiating this deal will never have to suffer the consequences if the deal is to go wrong. Americans will be harmed. The young men at the recruiting station workouts, so ready to fight for a just cause. So ready to defend the country they love. Their lives… abruptly ended. Theirs to do or
