The last Monday of June started out normally for James a skinny black boy living in Maryland. It started with his alarm clock going off with bright red numbers “9:15” it flashed. James jumped out of his warm bed and threw on favorite outfit. He checked his phone and his friends were texting saying they are outside and ready to go. He stepped outside and saw his friends in the car goofing off and honking the horn, it was cloudy and chilly so James grabbed a jacket, locked his door, and headed off with his friends. 3 boys were in the car with James, TQ the driver, Rico the passenger, and Kenny the youngest yet biggest out of the boys. “I’m hungry lets go get snacks “said Rico. “Me too” James and TQ said simultaneously. “Pull into that Giant up …show more content…
The manager pointed the cops to a room in the back and we followed in. “What’s your name boy the bigger cop asked TQ”. “Kyle” TQ said trying to make sure his mom didn’t find out by using a fake name. “Well “Kyle” let me see some ID” the cop said. “I forgot it at my house” TQ said. Then the cop got up furiously and went through TQ’s pockets, finding his ID…. “TQ” the cop said with a smile. “It’s not good to lie to an officer boy” said the other cop. “You boys go out and wait with the manager” the cop motion to Rico, Kenny, and I. We gulped and left quickly. As we stepped out of the empty room I could barely hear one of the cops call TQ the n word, but I wasn’t sure. About 10 minutes later the two cops walked out from the room, eating the chips TQ had taken, and they walked out the door as if nothing had happened. TQ came out what seemed like an eternity but was only thirty seconds later, bleeding from the face with a black eye. We were all shocked. “What happened?!” Kenny asked already positive he knew the cops had done it. TQ grunted then motioned to the door and we all left. When we got in the car write suggested we write up a report and submit it to the police station.
