Together the humans and animals lived in an almost perfect harmony. These humans were different than most, they cherished and respected the animals and the nature of the island. Although, the humans especially loved the sky. It was boundless and laden with immeasurable, colorful mysteries. From vibrant sunsets to majestic birds, they claimed to worship it all… that was until they made a discovery. It was an especially starry night, and the moon shone brighter than ever. The humans huddled together in a clearing of the jungle. Their eyes wide, gazed at the sky above. Birds of all kinds and colors flew about. …show more content…

It ungracefully fluttered about, flying in all directions, and bumping into other birds. The little creature swooped by the humans, causing a frenzy, as they all screamed and swatted. The people were disgusted by the tremendous act. Some ugly “bird” had ruined the festival. Humans being humans, decided to capture this bird in order to punish it. The job did not take long, the bird seemed to be blind, for it flew right into the humans’ nets. After capturing the bird it was taken into the light so that is could be inspected. “It-it-it has ears, birds do not have ears!” one man exclaimed. I was over ecstatic when Fernando, (also known as Fernie) my best guy friend asked me to go on a walking adventure with him in our hometown of Kelseyville, California. We started off the day by walking in the forest alongside of Kelsey Creek. This forest has a really big meaning to Fernie and I, because we both love nature in every aspect and these walking adventures are not uncommon to us. Starting on the path we both got lost in our own thoughts, I got distracted by looking above me at the the canopy the tree branches created. My eyes followed the patterns the sunlight was creating as it broke through the leaves and cascaded onto the uneven forest floor.…

The narrator states that his physical form is a parrot in the second line, when he questions if the “other parrots” are also people “trapped…for living their life in a certain way,” and outright states “I’m a bird.” Furthermore, the narrator demonstrates that he is physically limited by his avian body through his inability to speak beyond simple terms such as “hello” and “pretty bird.” The narrator also shows that his mind has become similar to that of a parrot’s by describing the world in a manner one would expect from a parrot. When detailing his wife’s beauty, he critiques her nose and mentions that it is redeemed by the “faint hook to it,” similar to a bird’s beak, and when he sees his wife’s nude body, he claims that she looks “plucked.” Through this concurrence, it is established as fact that the narrator still carries his jealous feelings, even as his mind has adapted to the perspective of a…

Long ago, in a time where only land animals existed there was a bird named Aves. Unlike, the birds we know of today Aves wasn’t able to fly nor were any other animals. Day after day, he would stare up at the trees branches and clouds wishing that he could, at least just once, touch them. He had tried many times to climb the trees but his tiny, fragile legs weren’t capable of taking him to the top. One evening, out of anger and spite, he yelled up to the Sky God, “Caelum!…

The narrator frequently “[has] dreams where [he is] flying… [which is his] favourite dream” (147) as well as asking God to “make [him] a bird-[as] that’s all [he’s] ever wanted. This desire to fly or become a bird is used to symbolize the narrator’s desire to run away from all his human problems and be free of the pain and sadness caused by the human condition. This is that since these birds have the capability of flying wherever they please; they truly can escape. That is something that the storyteller cannot do, no matter how hard he tries. He cannot flee from his problems forever and so in turn, he must face these conflicts just as any other individual would.…

“He felt the thud of the bodies, heard the fluttering of wings; but the birds were not yet defeated, for again and again they returned to the assault, jabbing his hands, his head, their little stabbing beaks sharp as pointed forks” (Daphne du Maurier’s The Birds). This enthralling scene is an excerpt from none other than Daphne du Maurier’s The Birds, and it inserts a perfect picture in the reader’s head of the suffering Nat is undergoing. In the short story The Birds, Nat must defend his family from the invasion of birds, and the author creates a suspenseful story with strong imagery during and after the raid of the birds.…
