She finally reached an open area and saw why it was open. There was an enormous crack running through the cobblestone street, and at the bottom dwelled a hot pit of glowing… what was that? Then, she heard Jo and Jen. “Bet I can get there before you, Jen!” “No way! I’m so much faster than you, bro!” “NO!!” Mira screamed, but it was too late. Jo burst out of the crowd, and fell into the crack. Mira grabbed his hand, but she was not very strong, and before long her brother fell into the pit. Mira began to sob, a heart wrenching sound. The cat from before was winding around her legs, and Mira pet it, crying into it’s silky fur. The ground made a final, gigantic shake, and stilled. Mira went over the Jen and hugged her, telling her younger sister that she loved her, that it would be okay, when suddenly, screams engulfed her mind.
