Mira walked slowly along the alley to her house. Her head was down, and tears slowly dripped down her cheeks. She knew that most kids didn’t live long, but Sandra had been her best friend. But the strangeness of her friend’s last words hadn’t hit her yet.
“Mira, you have to save them. It’s coming. Something is coming….”
As Mira arrived home, which, for her, had always been the Palace at Knossos, her twin siblings, Jo and Jen, rushed out.
“Hey Mira,-
“We heard you had-
“A bad-
“DAY TODAY!” they bellowed.
She always had to laugh at how they seemed to think the same things, but not today. Today was the end of her world. Today was the end of everything. When she finally got to her bed, she saw a note on her pillow. All letters in Crete were round,

She finally reached an open area and saw why it was open. There was an enormous crack running through the cobblestone street, and at the bottom dwelled a hot pit of glowing… what was that? Then, she heard Jo and Jen. “Bet I can get there before you, Jen!” “No way! I’m so much faster than you, bro!” “NO!!” Mira screamed, but it was too late. Jo burst out of the crowd, and fell into the crack. Mira grabbed his hand, but she was not very strong, and before long her brother fell into the pit. Mira began to sob, a heart wrenching sound. Jen had seen the whole thing and stood, stricken. This was not real. This was not real. THIS WAS NOT REAL! The cat from before was winding around her legs, and Mira pet it, crying into it’s silky fur. The ground made a final, gigantic shake, and stilled. Mira went over the Jen and hugged her, telling her younger sister that she loved her, that it would be okay, when suddenly, screams engulfed her mind. A huge, 100 meter tall wave loomed over them, then crashed down with the force of a thousand bull fighters. Mira felt intense pain, then everything went
