It was a stormy April night, and the Gallagher family was having a game night at their house. It was a full house; Frank, Fiona, Lip, Ian, Debbie, Carl, Liam, and even their neighbors, Kevin and Veronica, were there. The living room floor was now the product of the sore loser from Monopoly, cards and game pieces strewn all over the place. Liam, being only two years old, was being watched by Veronica so he would not accidentally get choked on the game pieces everyone was too distracted to pick up.

“Am I a type of food?” asked Debbie, referring to the mysterious card that was strapped to her forehead. Everyone now was sitting with their legs crossed in the floor playing Hedbanz.

“No, but that would be hilarious if someone tried to eat

“Please, at least give me a hint.”

Before anyone could answer her, thunder shook the whole house and lightning struck, instantly making the Gallagher family lose power. Frightened, Carl jumps into his father, Frank’s, arms. Frank wraps his arms around him and assures him that the power will come back on shortly, even though he had no idea when it would come back on.

“I’m going to find a flashlight,” Kevin announces to the now pitch-black living room. He cautiously stands up and uses the furniture’s placement to make his way into the kitchen. Veronica and Ian both try to find as many candles as they can with the light on Ian’s phone.

“Debbie, go sit with Dad,” Fiona demands. “I’m going to go look outside and see if there’s any damage.” She walks over to the door and opens it to see a huge tree branch that had fallen on the power line. “Oh, no, this isn’t good.”

“What happened?” Everyone simultaneously asked, a few getting up and bolting to the door to see the damage for

Fiona turns to look at him with a confused look. “Let me explain.”

Everyone goes back to where they were sitting before the power outage, and listens to Lip.

“Today someone told me about electric cooperatives,” he continues, “at first I didn’t think much about it, but I did research when I got home and I think that maybe it could help our situation now.”

“Wait, what’s an electric cooperative?” Carl asks.

“Electric cooperatives are businesses that have huge impacts on people’s lives. They give energy for power to anything from cellphones to refrigerators.” Lip states.

“Oh, yeah, I’ve heard about this, too!” Veronica interjects. “They aren’t like other businesses, electric cooperatives are non-for-profit businesses. They’re owned by the customers themselves.”

Frank looks at his daughter Fiona and shrugs his shoulders. “Doesn’t sound too bad to me.”

“Can we even afford something like that?” Debbie asks. “We definitely aren’t the richest people.”

“They are known for selling affordable energy. It shouldn’t be a problem for us.” Lip says.

“Also, they are very reliable. When you’re with them, the power is almost never out.” Veronica

Firstly, privatization is one of the chief executive officer (CEO) John Swatridge’s primary concerns. Regardless, it is an opportunity for the company to exploit, versus a threat to mitigate. As a result, pursuing privatization would grant HUS the ability to procure power from cost effective sources, which would then be funnelled down to their customers (Vandenbroucke & Templer, 2006, p.7). In addition, privatization will increase HUS’s generated revenue, while providing an opportunity to reduce costs (Vandenbroucke & Templer, 2006, p.10). This will then in turn, increase outsourcing and give HUS a competitive advantage (Vandenbroucke & Templer, 2006, p.8).…

Introduction When determining what/how to share information between the private and public entities (federal, state, or local governments) it is necessary to identify what the laws and regulations apply. Some of the laws/regulations depend on which portion of government is attempting to share information. If the Federal government is attempting to share information then they must identify rules such as the Federal Guidance on the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 which encouraged information sharing and adding liability insurance to protect the private partners (Weiss, 2016). When it comes to the state governments sharing information it is necessary for them to not only identify the laws/regulations that the federal government has in place, but must also identify the state specific laws that apply.…

Like a viper an arrow pierced out from the thorn ridden brush before piercing through the side of a wild pig, the tip driving it through the heart. Before the fat brown target could squeal in pain it collapsed, dead. The brown-haired owner of that arrow followed out from the bushes only a moment later, a short bow in his left hand and a quiver of arrows on his right hip. The young man held no excitement on his lightly tanned face, just a small glimmer of satisfaction in his own abilities hidden in his emerald eyes. With careful movements his calf-length leather boots slid through the brambles he’d hidden behind, taking care to not ruin the dark green trousers that tucked into them.…

What Cooperatives Mean to My Community With all the political and social unrest of the past year, many people feel like they do not have a voice in their ever changing community, or they think they are not able to help the masses. However, by working with cooperatives society has a chance to positively impact its members in, helping, and caring for others. Cooperatives are owned and operated by the people of the community it serves, which allows the inhabitants of that community to have a direct say and direct impact on what happens with the business and the social aspects of the cooperative. Cooperatives in my community, like Cuivre River Electric Company, mean that people have a voice and can care for the other people who need the help, and, thus, making the community a better place.…

Organizational culture plays a key role in the effectiveness of any company. Netflix has worked hard to establish a very strong organizational culture, or collective values that are the core makeup of the company (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2013). My organization has a strong but very different culture, but cannot compare in scale to that of Netflix. My organization is a public power company, which naturally leads us to a very different business model than Netflix, resulting in very different cultures. While our cultures are very different, Netflix’s focus on transparency and accountability can be adapted to my organization (Netflix).…

The Jamaica Constabulary Force revealed that multiple US agencies including FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration will be assisting in the investigation of murders of American missionaries Randy Hentzel and Harold Nichols, whose bodies were recovered in a rural Jamaican province this past weekend. " Yesterday, I called the United States ambassador to Jamaica to update him on the investigation and to assure him that we are doing everything possible to identify the criminals responsible for these brutal acts," said Police Commissioner Dr. Carl Williams of JCF.
