"STOP!" A figure appeared in a brilliant flash of light, my finger hovering above the Enter key. "I...AM FROM THE FUTURE!"

There was an awkward pause as I waited in confusion for the time-traveler to continue. "And...?" I inquired.

Gasping, the man (I think) said "Sorry...time-traveling...is...exhausting!" He was larger man, with an unkempt beard and a soot-covered lab coat. He pulled his dark goggles up to rest on his balding forehead. Blinking several times, he repeated "I...am from the future!"

"Oh sorry! I just really have to finish writing this assignment..."

"What year is it?" he asked suspiciously. "Uh...2018?" I answered. "WHAT?! You mean this isn't 1998?"

"Uh...no? What would make you think that?" Should I be offended right now?

"Darn! Well I guess you already know this stuff then."

"Great! The words are 'web server' and 'host'. Could you just define what they mean and use them in a sentence?"

"That's weird, but alright. A host is a company that provides space for, or 'hosts', content on the web. Hosts would use servers, which is a computer that sends data out at the request of a client. How's that?"

"That was very helpful, thank you." I hit enter on my keyboard and he shrugged and disappeared in a puff of blue

I stood on the balcony of the clock tower, breathing heavily. My front faced a small gathered crowd about fifty feet down, and to my back left, was Paul Richmond. I didn't understand him. Why wouldn't he let me die in peace? The school, the entire school, already wanted to see me dead.…

I couldn’t quite place the look on Mrs. Nash’s face when we came in from lunch and filled our little desks. Her lips were turned down, her eyes cast off to the side, distracted from whoever’s spelling test she was grading. For such a focused, get-it-done kind of teacher, it was strange to see her that way, to say the least. “I was listening to the police scanner in the office,” she confided to us. “There was a big car accident right in town… I hope the people are all right.…
