The sun gleamed through Naomi’s bedroom window, highlighting the red strands of her hair. Laying in her bed, eyes closed, peaceful. Her bedroom door opens and her mother comes in and kisses her forehead. “Good Morning baby.” the mother said, running her fingers through Naomi’s hair. She smiled as her eyes slowly opened. “Good Morning Mommy.”
“Come on, get up. Breakfast is ready.” She scooped Naomi up, embracing her, and carried her down the steps. The smell of bacon and eggs filled the house. The sound of pots and pans banging together greeted the mother and daughter to the kitchen. “Good Morning Princess!” her father said as he kissed Naomi’s forehead. Naomi’s eyes widened as her father placed a plate full of crispy bacon and scrambled eggs in

Wrapping her arms around the little girl, she felt her stomach drop. “How am I going to explain the deployment to a five year-old?” she thought to herself. “How’s your breakfast baby?” “It’s yummy.” Naomi replied as she bit into a piece of bacon, savoring the perfectly crisp piece. “Baby I have something to tell you. Daddy’s job needs him to leave next month and he might not be allowed to come home for a while.” “What?” Naomi asked, stuffing her face full of food. She needed to find an ultimatum between telling her daughter the brutal truth of where her father was going and completely sugar coating his deployment, but she found herself at a loss of words. “Daddy needs to go on a trip to help Mr.Stanton fight the bad guys. He might have to go away for a while, but we will write him letters and he can come home and visit sometimes.” “I don’t want Daddy to go away, please don’t go away.” Naomi turned to face her father, a confused look on her face.Taking a deep breath he walked over to his daughter. “It’s going to be okay baby, it’s all okay.” She grabbed her father’s soft cotton shirt, hugging him

It was a frosty day as a young man treked outside into the dull, bleak streets of Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. His destination soon came into sight, a two story brick building. You could see that the building had been there for an extensive period, since it kind of perched like a person who didn’t quite apperceive how to poise right.…
