I awoke to a knock on my bedroom door. Light shone through the curtains, softly illuminating the room. The blankets that had covered me the night before were now strewn about, mostly on the cold floor. As I was still in a daze, I answered the knock with a small groan.
“Montresor, sir, I apologize for disturbing your sleep. I have some washed clothing for you, and I was going to put them in your dresser, sir,” spoke a small voice. “May I come in, or shall I come later, sir?”
I rose from the bed, the muscles on my arms and legs becoming extraordinarily sore.
“Perhaps after a while, Hanna. I would like to rest for a while longer.” I managed to say, barely able keeping my eyes open.
“Alright, sir. Hopefully you were not drinking too much last night.
