The sun was rising scantily when I got home. My phone read 05:36 a.m., so no one was awake yet. My mother didn't wake up until around 07:00 and my brothers slept until about 12:00. I pulled open my window, slipping into my room silently before collapsing onto my bed. I was exhausted and I fell asleep almost instantly. But, I didn't sleep for long.

"Brianna Carver!" My mother yelled as she entered my room. I jumped up in panic to see her standing in front of me with her arms crossed.

"Where were you all night?" She asked.

"Nowhere," I grumbled, leaving my bed and walking past my mother to exit my room. It was too early, and it was the same fight we had every time I went anywhere.

"Don't lie. I heard you get home, and you're filthy," my mother replied, following me as I walked to the living room. My brothers were sitting on the couches, watching in confusion. The yelling must've woken them up too.

"You know, they never get in trouble," I pointed towards my brothers, "They live in California alone, while I can't even go to the movies with a friend."

I pulled open the back door, escaping to the backyard before my mother could reply. She was overprotective and way to paranoid. I heard the door open behind me, followed by someone sitting on the porch next to me.

"What was that about?" It was my brother, Aiden.

"She's overprotective. I can't do anything without her knowing every freaking detail," I grumbled. "It's worse now that we've moved."

"She's worried. Ethan's talking to her now," Aiden

It was a frosty day as a young man treked outside into the dull, bleak streets of Dun Laoghaire, Ireland. He had a sort of a somber resolve about him, as if he was bearing a cumbersome avoirdupois. The intrepid tap of his footfalls could be heard moving down the streets. His destination soon came into sight, a two story brick building. You could see that the building had been there for an extensive period, since it kind of perched like a person who didn’t quite apperceive how to poise right.…

Ellis Island I walked noislessly through the market, listening to the nearly silent whispers that were surrounding me. A place where the streets are paved with gold, and poverty was a word that simply wasn't in the Americans vocabulary. Ellis Island was the “Isle of Hope,” and it was every person's dream to start off a new life there.…
