“We are determined now more than ever to live our lives in freedom.”- Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. That was a quote told about the terrifying things that happened on 9/11. This experience has influenced me to be more aware of what’s happening in the world. It has also taught me to be more gracious to others, because you don’t know how even the little things can affect someone. Plus, it showed me that anything is possible, even the unthinkable events.
September 11th, 2001 started like any other day; the sun was shining and everything was perfectly normal. Then, tragedy struck, American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. Afterwards, United Airlines Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower. I also learned that it took 8 months and 19 days to clean up the Twin Towers. Plus, I found out that around 250,000 people were it the Twin Towers before the planes crashed. Almost 10,000 civilians and first responders were injured. In all there were 19 hijackers and they were: Mohamed Atta, Abdul Aziz al Omari, Wail al Shehri, Satam al Shaqami, Mohand al Shehri, Hani Honjour, Nawaf al Hazmi, Waleed al Shehri, Fayez Banihammad, Ahmed al Ghamdi, Hamza al Ghamdi, Marwan al Shehhi, Salem al Hazmi, Khalid al Mihdar, Majed Moqed, Saeed al Ghamdi, Ahmed al Hazmawi, Ziad Jarrah, and Ahmed al Nami.
9/11 has made an impact on me in the sense that I am more cautious of my surroundings. It has also made me want to be a better person and help more people when I am able.
