Their Savior, teacher, and friend had just been arrested and they were associated with Him and had followed His word and they didn’t want to be arrested as well. This selfishness led to Peter denying Jesus three times, and some of the disciples fled and hid. But later, after the third day when Jesus rose from the dead, the disciples realized that Jesus had been arrested and had been sacrificed to save us from sin. That is truly what Salvation is; Jesus sacrificing Himself for us, He didn’t have to listen to God. He could have lived his life out like every other human being and we wouldn’t be saved from sin. But Jesus knew He had to do this for us to exist in eternal glory in Heaven. Looking back at this important event in Catholic history, we know more than we did when that happened therefore it makes more sense in retrospect than it did when Judas’ betrayal actually
