9/11 Personal Narrative

My name is Jessica Pierre and I am currently a sophomore here at Valencia. Once I graduate from Valencia I do plan on transferring over to UCF where I will major in Advertisement and Public Relations. September 11 would have to be the earliest memory of a historical event I can actually remember. Only because on that particular day I was in school and one of the teachers came running into my classroom crying. Which made my teacher along with some of my classmates cry as well.

“Debunking the 9/11 Myths: Special Report” and “The Conspiracy Industry: Afterword to PM Expanded Investigation” are two articles both written for the Popular Mechanics magazine by James B. Meigs, the latter being written in 2006, one year after the former. “Debunking the 9/11 Myths: Special Report” is an in-depth analysis of conspiracy theories surrounding the 9/11 attacks and the factual evidence that refutes these theories. “The Afterword” is a reflective piece that describes the uprising of the conspiracy theory community after the first article was published, and then poses the argument as to why conspiracy theorists have an “illusion of coherence”. The first article published by Meigs garnered a lot of attention from the conspiracy theory…

9/11 - Personal Perspective In 2001, I lived in Slovakia, my home country and did not even dream of living in the United States someday. I was slowly getting used to my new role of a wife and mother that year, quite happy living in a small country in the middle of Europe. I was visiting my parents on Sept. 11 for couple of days. My first child had just been born in August and it was her first visit in grandparents’ house.…

The idea of a narrative is to tell a story, the events occurring on the day of September 11, 2001 will provide an opportunity to relay my feelings, moving beyond the initial pure and basic anger at those responsible for such a desperate act. The image shows two emergency responders in the cloud of debris left by the collapse of the Trade Centers and what drew me to this picture is what they must have been talking about. The questions and issues I initially considered included: the loss of life; the tremendous devastation; and are there more survivors, where these possibilities could only be confirmed by talking to the individuals in the picture. Instead, I decided that the picture will be used as a metaphor to relay my awareness of the incident,…

night being 16 years ago on this day, I’m sure America woke up still in shock or not even able to sleep through the the United States was on high alert after the towers have been hit by two planes flown by two suicide bombers on 9/11/01. I woke up on the morning of September 11, 2001 and at the time I was 10 years old, I remember looking at the television that was on news and seeing the twin towers on fire and smoking. I didn’t understand back then what was going on, none of the adults in the house we’re talking about it or what had happened I just thought it was another day. As I went to school and ate breakfast, I remember hearing our teacher talk about it and the worried look on their faces. Before we were to go back to our classes, I asked…

On September 11, 2001 there were terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City, in a field in Pennsylvania, and The Pentagon. A lot of people remember this day because of the emotional toll it took on everyone. “...For those of us who lived through these events, the only marker we’ll ever need is the tick of a clock at the 46th minute of the eighth hour of the 11th day.” This quote is from President George W. Bush. The quote tells you that even though this was a terrible day that devastated everyone, we still need to remember it.…

September 11th, 2001 was a tragic day for the United States. Erin Siegel told CNN “It’s hard to live in the shadow of 9/11... It was particularly painful for me because I was fighting with my dad when he died, and for a very long time I blamed myself and wished that we could have resolved it, that we could have parted on better terms. I would’ve traded years of my life to have made that come true. Eventually, after being adrift in that thick darkness for a long time, bargaining gave way to a different strategy: keeping him with me” (9/11 Children:).…

My friend explained to me that after 9/11 her father was attacked because they were from Pakistan people accused him of being a terrorist and connected to the 9/11 attacks, her father made the decision to go against his religion and have her take off her Hijab to avoid being attacked. Hearing this, fear started to build inside of me at the thought of someone being only 12 years old and having to deal with very real issues. As she spoke her voice started to fade away and all the noise in the background disappeared. Furthermore, I started to prepare to defend my friend and our friendship. However, there ended up being nothing to defend and over time my friend drifted most likely out of fear of the unknown I suppose that in a situation like that…

September 11, 2001 is a day every american remembers and could never forget. On one ordinary morning, no one could have expected it, in the matter of hours, to take a devastating turn taking lives, distressing families, alarming the government, and terrifying America. News reporters, screams, cries, smoke-filled streets only embody a diminutive picture of the capacity of the terror. For an american, the trauma and destruction of 9/11 could never be disregarded, but many do, in fact, take no notice of the sufferings and torment children, the young ones, fought that day and the days following.…

I don’t talk about this anymore, because many people get freaked about it. In fact, I leave it out of my testimony, but maybe I should include it. I was working for some big name Christian leaders who sent me to train IT developers in San Diego. I was exhausted when I arrived so I went straight to my hotel room.…
