You know how people say they can remember exactly what they were doing the day 9/11 happened? It was such a huge event in their lives they remember every last detail, just like it happened yesterday. While I may not remember what happened the day of September 11, 2001, I do remember the day of April 30th, 2004. I was seven years old and in second grade. It was a Friday, and as the minutes ticked by signaling the end of the day I grew more and more excited. After what seemed like years, we were finally dismissed to go home. I was the first kid out the doors and I sprinted as fast as I could to my mom’s car. She taught me how to be sneaky, conniving, blunt, and biatch-y. She is described as “The enormous ball of evil standing at the top of the social ladder” by Janis Ian (the girl who’s life Regina ruined in seventh grade by telling everyone she was a lesbian). Sure she may victimize every last person in the school, including teachers, but does that stop them from worshipping at her feet? Not even close. For example, when Cady tried to sabotage Regina’s “cool factor” by cutting boob holes in her white tank top, Regina just went with it knowing the extent of her trend setting power. The next day everyone came to school with boob holes in their shirts! I got all of my big personality traits from Regina George. She made me, and I strive to feign her confidence in my daily life. Another reason why Mean Girls is the greatest movie ever is because it is one of a kind. It is a definitive highschool movie from a girls point of view. Sure there may be other movies that are aiming to do the same thing, but Mean Girls is the only one to ever accomplish it. It warns of lady cliques, exclusion, and social currencies in high school. Personally, I think of it as a guide or textbook of high school. No other movie has ever captured every aspect of teenage life like this one has, and for that it should always be
