9/11: A Short Story

I coughed as the grime and dust filled my lungs. I can’t remember the last time I went into this decrepit attic. Whatever, none of that matters now, I just have to clear out the boxes before I go to Columbia University. As I started lifting the boxes dust flew everywhere, clogging my lungs. I found my arms shaking and my knees wobbling. I felt the boxes slip out of my hands and clatter to the floor. Quickly, I reached for my inhaler. My Asthma acting up again? Dr. Jacobs said I got over it I thought to myself as I breathed in the fluid expelling from the inhaler. After taking a few deep breathes I went to pick up the boxes I had dropped when I saw something that caught my eye. A newspaper had fallen out of one of the boxes, It had WELLS FARGO BANK ROBBERY draped across the front page. Curious as I was I decided to investigate the paper. As I read the paper I came across a name that would be engrained in my head for …show more content…
I quietly opened the door and ran to the bus. 11:55. Gives me five minutes until the last bus into the city leaves. With only a minute to spare I made it to the bus. From then on I went on two other buses until I reached the prison at 8:00 am sharp. The prison wasn’t what I expected it to be. It looked like an old apartment building surrounded by fences topped with barbed wire, a few watch towers surrounded the perimeter of the building. It actually seemed kind of friendly considering it was a bright sunny day, not a single cloud in the sky. Although, it had a stench to it. Like rotten eggs and unwashed gym socks, and the screaming, whistle blowing, and cursing emitting from the building didn’t help the friendly aroma. Trying my best to ignore the sounds and smells, I walked inside. I was greeted by a kind old women at the front desk who asked me why I was there.
