Suddenly, first day of practice was something greatly unexpected.
Eventually I sucked, it wasn’t practically easy for me to play really well because I never tried in 7th grade but now it’s 8th grade and it was the first day of practice. Therefore others, too, they also sucked. But it was a mutual that we all had in common. And we share the same personality of doing something new, which was Tennis. Some of them were 8th graders like me but many of them were the 7th graders. But they actually play really well as average 7th graders then us 8th graders. I figured I ’d die if he ran me over. But he just smiled all the time, played hard, and slapped me hard on the back” (Alexie 136). This example shows that Roger might be more skilled than Junior, but that's not stopping Junior from working hard in tryouts. My most significant leadership experience would be when I was in the Girls Varsity Tennis Team. I had been in the tennis team during my highschool years, for 2 years. During that time I learned a lot about being a leader, such as what it means to lead others, and what qualities a leader should have. When I first started playing tennis I started at the position on 2nd doubles, to me I took it as that I was not good enough to play against an opponent by myself on the court. Which was entirely true, because when I began playing I was not any good whatsoever.…

So the next day Chad started laughing at what I wrote and every time I scored on one of the boys they’d have to read what I wrote. The past week was spent running and playing the weirdest games that the British could ever create. Chad made up a game the day before we played it and went off without a hitch. The boys would stick their noses up towards me like they smelled something awful. This mostly happened when Will praised me due to he was a hard coach to please.…

As I arrived at the tennis courts, I can sense a presence or seriousness, the determination of a small high school tennis team in the southeast region of Missouri. With the footsteps made by the head coach you can tell, by the look of his face, that he is very welcoming and pleased to have an observer come watch his hard work that took him years to build. “Hi, how are you today? You must be Anthony?” the coach voiced.…

Now, we just needed to win one court to win OCCs. Being one of the courts to have a chance to win, I had a lot of pressure on me before I even started playing. Walking onto that court, I knew it was going to be a tough match. The team we were playing was the team I previously played for during middle school and freshman and sophomore year before I moved to the new school, so I knew the team, the coach, and the parents, making me even more nervous and nostalgic. After my team on the other court lost, which I didn’t know as I was playing, I ended up being the last court playing.…

However, what many in the tennis community failed to comprehend is that my reputation as an angry unstable child did not translate outside of tennis. Off the court I considered myself to be a tempered and even shy person whom was friendly with all I happened to acquaintance myself with. Nonetheless, authority figures in the tennis community did not concern themselves with my off the court personality but only focused on my on the court actions. Due to my on court reputation, several leading tennis pros within the Omaha tennis community did not grant me access to practice and train at the facilities that they controlled, placing a direct constraint on my growth as a training tennis player but also as a maturing teenager. For six years, I fought the uphill battle of attempting to improve my tarnished…
