10th Grade Graduation Speech

The beginning of 10th grade is an exciting time for any student. You’re a grade closer to graduating and you’re no longer the new group to the school, right? Not in Hobbs, Nm. Though most kids have different fears on the first day everyone hides those feelings with a smile and eventually they don’t get nervous about school. I, on the other hand, have always had a hard time with school, but then I walked into my last class of the day. Mrs. Turner was my 10th grade English teacher and was my safe haven while I was at Hobbs high for the next three years.

Mrs. Turner was not like most teachers I have had during my school years. She approached her students as if we were adults not like we were little kids. In her classroom, everyone had a voice not just the teacher at the

What I wish I would have done back then was realize school is much more important than I thought. It has a big impact on the type of person you will later be. The people you choose to surround yourself with can very much be in your life years later. The school memories you have will always be bittersweet. It is how you choose to apply yourself later on past school and putting what you learned to good use. The choices you make will stay with you forever. I don’t think I would choose to do it any different way. I have just learned to apply my lessons learned to my life now. I give a lot of credit to my high school years, peers, and my

As I walked through the front doors of Allentown Central Catholic High School, I felt a sudden rush of panic. Everything I had once seen and had once been familiar with in middle school quickly vanished into thin air. I was terrified, not because I thought I was going to get lost, but because I knew that every little quiz I took, every little paper I wrote, and every exam I labored over would now count toward my ultimate goal of getting into a prestigious university. I wasn’t scared of new faces, but rather new beginnings and experiences.…

Freshman year of high school is scary for anyone, the enormous transition from being a top dog at middle school, back to an underclassman; wondering if your high school teachers will be as unforgiving as your 8th grade teacher’s descriptions, or even just that uncertainty that comes along with any major change. As a homeschooler entering school system for the first time, and having completely skipped 8th grade, it was terrifying. I had no idea what to expect, I worried about being behind the other students, or having missed something in my homeschooling curriculum, even interacting with other kids was all unfamiliar. It definitely didn’t help that, at 13, I was the youngest person in the building. Just two days into the school year, I discovered that P-AP world…

Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…

Graduation was a time to celebrate my achievements, to celebrate growing up and maturing into adulthood, to celebrate my friends and family that guided me along the way, and most importantly to celebrate one chapter coming to an end, and another one just beginning. The night before graduation I could hardly sleep as I knew that my high school career would soon be over. I got up that next morning, took a shower, put my makeup on, straightened my hair, and put my favorite black dress on, only this time I had my chords, cap, and gown to go with it.…
