Working for the quality of my work and not for the grade has become my new mindset of the English subject, it has become a major improvement/emphasis in my daily life while attending this first quarter of 8th Grade English Honors based on motivational sayings by Mr. Royal. The development of this concept of mine has worked its way up and constructed itself based on the concept Mr. Royal has delivered to us about not only working hard, but being able to comprehend the overall image of the text, or literature, etc. Conveying the overall image of comprehension was a real hassle for me at first, but as the days flew by in this first quarter of English, I have learn to exhale all the stress, failures, and mishaps, and turn them into words that

During my junior year at Stephen Decatur High School, I was enrolled in American Literature with Mrs. Moore. At first I thought she was a hard teacher because she made us write a lot. I enjoyed writing creative pieces, but in her class she gave us a prompt or we had to analyze a text and prove how the author believed in the American Dream or not. The first essay we wrote I scored a 29 out of 30 and was proud of myself because English has not always been my strongest subject. Our next assignment was on The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.…

Over the course of this semester I learned a lot about myself as a writer. This English 1010 class has really allowed me to expand my essay structure and ways of thinking. When I first started this course, I was scared and didn’t really know what to expect. I branched out to different styles and types of essays as well as incorporating outside sources into my work. When I received my first essay back with the feedback and the grade, I realized that I was not a really good writer.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone. Along the path was my introduction to college writing, a class that has improved my writing skills profoundly. At first the tasks given to us on the syllabus seemed daunting, almost insurmountable within the five-week period of the program; it seemed even more inconceivable with the class being only twice a week. However, with the guidance and instruction given to me by the professor and peers I was able to strengthen my work as a student.…

Tulen Aidar (atulen2), ENGL 160 (38997) With completing the first few weeks in the ENGL 160 class, I was able to benefit from a variety of new things from the class. My expectation about this class was that during the whole semester we will study grammar and structure of academic essays, as well as writing a large number of essays inside the class. However, I was pleasantly surprised, because we began to read interesting article and discuss it and in the end write summary about it. The most challenging for me was the amount of homework.…

While taking a class in college, many people just go through the motions and show up to class to get the job done. But after taking my first English Composition class this fall I realized how much important material and knowledge I have gained. During the class we learned everything from little bits of grammar to writing six page papers. Learning how to start the drafting process on a paper and build an effective was by far the most important skill I have learned in class. English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…

I’ve chosen to focus on “Exploration and Argumentation” as the subject of this reflective introduction, specifically looking at my argument paper, “Abortion: Right or Wrong?” as a reference to the importance of this learning outcome. I chose to focus on this particular learning outcome because it was the most difficult essay for me to create. While writing this essay it was difficult for me to understand and reciprocate the opposing viewpoint. Understanding an unfamiliar idea and giving ideas for or against a topic is key to creating a fluent argumentative essay.…

A good year for me in 10th grade would be a year where I can feel as comfortable as possible in the classroom atmosphere. I am an introvert, which makes me very social with the people in the class that I do know, and I am able to meet and get along with new people. My main problem with this is that I get tired in social situations quickly, and if I have the choice to work alone, I will. I also have struggled pretty severely with social anxiety. I have been working on this with my guidance counselor last year and I see a therapist outside of school, but even with all this help last year I was accidently scheduled into an improv class and on the first day during introductions I became nervous and had a panic attack.…

Our presentation was titled “Cyber Threats to Mobile Devices,” and its main focus was to be able to deliberately inform our audience about the many cyber threats they can possibly encounter with their cell phones. Further, we wanted to promote awareness and provide five easy tips to decrease their chances of encountering those cyber threats. Throughout this document, I will be analyzing and reflecting on the strengths and weakness of our presentation. Further, I will compare and contrast our team strategy with that of other teams taking in consideration six elements: audience, intent, message, content, visuals, and nonverbal delivery. Textbook Reflection Analyze the Audience When brainstorming for our topic, we analyze our audience interests and needs; therefore, we decided to present on an interesting topic that could appeal to everyone’s interest.…

I believe everyone is familiar with stupidity. You know exactly how it feels as your brains are missing, so you can’t think about some things you want. In addition, when you are screw-up, you will think about why the others are so much smarter than you, how they are smart and how to fix the mistake. I know deeply how hard it is to fix the fear in our mind because I have experience about it and been failure as you fall in cliff then how to climb it without fighting. It isn’t impossible to reach your accomplishment without effort, and it’s hard to keep your attention too.…

Introduction The time I spent with my student during our tutoring sessions gave me a first-hand experience of how it is like on a student to teacher level. I learned a lot from my student, Kade, as I hope he also learned from me. During this time, I was able to observe his strengths and his weakness. I had to be flexible to cater my lesson plan to my student, so he could build upon what he learned and advance through more challenging activities.…
